Discovered a ammonite graveyard

 

Found in Antarctica a field of giant fossils of ammonites, squid-like kind of one meter seventy who lived in the time of the dinosaurs and disappeared with them. Between 20 and five feet eight inches in diameter. This is an ammonite fossil graveyard, a similar species that became extinct squid alongside dinosaurs. It is the finding of a group of Argentine scientists, who claim that the fossils have an approximate age of 75 million years.

Argentine researchers found this natural reservoir of ammonites, distant relatives of octopuses and squids present, about 100 kilometers from Argentina Marambio base in Antarctica.

As reported in the newspaper Los Andes, paleontologist Eduardo Olivero said this "graveyard of giants of the sea" has the peculiarity found high concentration of fossils because of storms. "These were organisms living in the open sea, probably died at sea and transported them major storms on the surface of water and concentrated on a beach," said the expert, who noted that the degree of preservation of the fossils is "excellent".
